Soccer in the Sand - Henry

Henry also played on a team....with pink shirts.....real men where pink, he told me.  All the kids were from his soccer club and half from Forest Park, so the sidelines were just as fun as it seemed like a big beach party. The boys were in a very competitive bracket and they played AMAZING. The ended up winning too! Henry had a pretty great first day with nine goals and a parent bet him five dollars that he couldn't get 15. As anyone who knows him well knows...bet that boy and have it something to do with a number...and he is in. He scored exactly 15 goals in the two days and got his five bucks :) My favorite part is after winning the championship, Henry orchestrated his team to do the "championship dive" that the Timbers did when they won the MLS cup. Pretty clever and so adroable. Again, while I am thrilled for them that they won, I am most happy about the joyous time that he and the families had there.

Soccer in the Sand - Frances

The kids played in the Soccer in the Sand tournament. It is really tournament that is 100% on the sand.  There are 20 fields and games go from 8am-8pm. It was a really fun experience and definitely something we will do again.

Frances played with group of girls from her new club team. All very sweet and a dad offered to coach.

The ended up winning....in the last game...that went to extra time...and then penalty kicks. Pretty exciting stuff for an eight year old. While I am happy they won, I was most happy that she had so much fun and seems to be making very good friendships with the girls on her team.

We also had a special fan -- Brookie and the kids came for support the first day. Too cute.

Maggie Bday....a Day Early

Henry and Frances were both in soccer tournaments over the weekend....which included Maggie's bday. So - we made the family decision....to lie, and tell her that her bday was Friday instead (one day early)

We left for the beach on Thursday and made sure she had the BEST day.

It was a beach day with her family,  lots of biking (her new favorite activity) followed by Oskie coming down, playing and farmers market, and having dinner and chocolate cake with Aunt Brookie and sweet A. She LOVED it...and then the next morning we told her she got another great day...as that was was her real bday. I can't believe our baby is five years old.

Frances's Official Bday

Miss Frances is eight. It has a good ring to it!  She woke to opening her presents....lots of soccer jerseys....got to go to Powells to spend a gift card...and then our nanny took her to Toys R Us to spend her bday money. My kids have never been in Toys R Us....report back was they were slightly overwhelmed. When I got home, we went to the Nike Employee Store and got new shoes, dinner -with a big burger - and we ended the night with a Timbers Game. One. Happy. Eight. Year. Old.

It is impossible to not smile when you are around Frances.

She is - simply put - FANTASTIC.

Let the playdates begin....with girls....

Henry and his friend were invited to an after school celebration...with their close soccer buddies...who are girls. These girls are awesome!!!!!!!! I am thrilled with it :)

Celebrating her eight bday with her homeboys

For the 2nd year in a row, Frances chose to forego a big party and to instead have her best friends over for a sports playdate on steriods...with lunch an italian resturant that has soccer jerseys and COPA on the TV.

Meanwhile one of Francie's friends has a sister who is also going to Kinder at FPE next year with Maggie. So -- BONUS playdate-- Maggie got a playdate at the pool. Score!
