LHS Soccer

Henry's school is BIG. Very big. And in soccer city, lots of kids like soccer.

There were 50 freshmen who tried out.

He did so with grace, grit and dedication.

He was fortunate enough to make JV -- one of only two freshmen. It has been a culture and challenge shock for us all.......him with the size and speed of the players...and me with the fact his teammates...who are juniors....can drive him to the game. WHAT ?!?!?!?!?!?

My favorite thing is that there are four players on the team that primarily speak Spanish. Love. It.

We are adjusting to week time games and that start at 4 in far away places...definitely did not know that I should have blocked my calendar. Oops.

He did score his first high school goal the 2nd game. So proud of him. And so sad I was at a work meeting. boo.

Labor Day 2019

The only drawback to our Europe and soccer adventures this summer is we didn't get to go to the beach often. Boo.

Labor day was our catch up.

Thankfully we also had Auntie KK and Grandpa Gordon.

So. Much. Fun.

Three Kids, Three Schools, Three Different Start Times, LOTS of Feelings for Mama

We have:
1) A high schooler
2) A middle schooler
3) A third grader going to school for the first time without a sibling.

Lots of big feelings and lot of pride ......and lots of logistics planning.

Waverly Jr Tournament

The kids played in the Jr Tournament again. They had a great time, even though Henry had a rough go. He still got 2nd place -- !!! -- and Frances got first ....as no other girls competed. Holla.

Aspen Institute

Governor Brown submitted an application to the Aspen Institute focused on young children and was able to pick four people to represent our state and I was selected as one. what ?!?!? So exciting. I had never been to Aspen -- WOW - so gorgeous. I would LOVE to take the family back someday.

Clash at the Border - Double Trouble

Maggie joined FC Portland too.

So yes...we have three kids playing competitive soccer.

No joke.

Frances and Maggie both were in the Clash at the Border tournament in Vancouver...made for some fun juggling, but a lot of fun. In fact, one game, eight of Maggie's teammates came and cheered for Maggie - I mean, how sweet is that.

They had fun, they worked hard, and side bonus, both of their teams won their Premier divisions -- SO Bad Ass women :) Frances's team even played a year up!

USWNT - Pasadena

As we know...the Reuland family stalks the USWNT. When my godfather - who is city commissioner for Pasadena - found out that we were in San Diego when the USWNT was returning to Rose Bowl, he got us tickets. YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My parents then got us a room at a hotel we used to go to as kids for a special brunch. Holla.

Soccer in the Sand

Soccer in the Sand is considered one of the most prestigious soccer tournaments the west of the Mississippi. Frances's Soccer club - the '08 team - got in. She normally plays for her '07 team, but is able to play with this '08 team as that is her birth year. They asked her to come and she jumped at the chance...even thought she didn't really know the girls well or the team. They were an AWESOME group of girls and she had a fun time. They had a rough tournament, but it was a great experience and such a well run tournament of the elite clubs. It would be fun to go sometime with her '07 team.
