Torrey Pines

When we got back to San Diego two of the major freeways were closed and the traffic to our cousins house, where we were staying, was horrible. Mark made the brilliant decision of directing us to do a sunset hike in Torrey Pines. SO Gorgeous.

Laguna

On the way back to San Diego we decided to stop in Laguna. As a kid we had a cousin who lived there and I remember loving the beach. My dad also had a patient that he grew very close too and we used to visit him in this wonderfully magical home. He was Danish and I remember vididly he had these lovely plates with beautiful blue paintings that he would serve the most delicious pastries on.

Laguna did not disappoint. Such an adorable town and a great beach. 

Then, on the way back to San Diego we stopped at In and Out....one of the kids FAVORITE things about CA Spring Break.... it is the little things.

CA Toothfairy

Maggie lost her tooth in San Diego. She was so worried about whether CA had tooth fairies and if they give money. Thankfully.... CA DOES have tooth fairies...and in fact....the CA one gave a whole five dollars for Disneyland. So, the day...on the way to Disneyland....Frances lost a tooth. Hmm.

Disneyland

The last time we went to Disneyland, we told Maggie the princesses were asleep. She saw not one. So, every time girls bring up Disneyland to her and seeing the princesses she would always say "oh, they were asleep when I was there" and the girls would look bewildered. I will be honest, this trip was to right that...and then maybe to not go back.

Well...it was the first thing Maggie and I did (Mark took the older kids to Indiana Jones, a ride Maggie would NEVER go on). So magical. She was so beyond excited it was just hard to not have my face explode from smiling. Then we went to Fairyland and she LOVED that as she adores the Fairy books. 

The rest of the day was pretty great from there....minus the 86 degree weather. Way too hot for this Oregon crowd.

Disney does do a pretty darn good job of making it the happiest place on earth.

CA Adventure

Given Maggie was only two when we went to Disneyland last, we decided to make the trek. I am not a big Disney person, and I drag my feet planning it, spending all that money, and making it part of a trip.

That said, from minute one, it was magical. We all had so much fun and Maggie was just in joyous awe the entire time. She did not stop smiling and she walked the WHOLE way. She went from 9am to 10PM straight.

Mark did a lot of rides with the older two, while I went with Maggie on things she would love. That said, Maggie is WAY more daring than Henry, so we saved some of the "scary" rides for afternoons and we would go with the girls or Henry would decide to work through it to not be shown up by his five year old sister.

We saw lots of Oregon people there, many wearing shirts given UofO was doing awesome in March Madness. We OR folk stuck out....very, very, very white legs and arms and HUGE smiling faces with the 80 degree weather.
