Disneyland 2014

After the day at Disney I didn't know if I would feel like another day.....but we were so ready to go! It was a wonderful day. One of my favorite parts was when Henry got to drive on his own - I completely remember that feeling of independence when I got to drive in Autotopia on my own. In a wonderful foreshadow of the future, he was VERY slow and very hesitant and uber careful. PHEW. After riding the log mountain ride and getting VERY wet the day before, I figured out the game and had a back up pair of clothes for them for Splash Mountain. GOOD THING. Henry got drenched!!!

California Adventure

After March Madness we loaded up two mini-vans and headed up for not one...but TWO...days of Disney bliss. Most folks know we are not a big "Disney" family and I have to admit that I was slightly dreading it. BUT. IT WAS MAGICAL. The kids smiled the whole time and having friends to talk with and catch up with in the lines was awesome. The first day we went to California Adventure. We had never been there before and we loved. I have to admit, one piece of my love...they serve beer. Mark said I was a little too excited. Maggie's favorite moment was when she got to take a picture of her duckie with a duck. If you see her, you have to ask her about it. Her re-telling of the picture is hilarious.

Beach Living

Oh the beaches of San Diego....do I really need to say more?

We got to stay with my friend Nancy. My mom and her mom were freshman year roommates and have been best friends ever since. I grew up with Nancy and her two sisters...they are like cousins to me...and now THEIR children are like cousins to my kids. On Friday we got to walk the kids to school and see their classrooms - so fun.

THE BEST.

March Madness 2014

We got to go to another March Madness. My kids DEFINITELY don't know how lucky they are. I loved our seats - they were in the first "bench" area and that made it easier to be able to let the kids walk and more room. We had lots of cousins in town to go with us. We were on the SDSU campus and so we got a nice dose of college life...in southern california...with the frats located across from the gym,. That stage of my life feels VERY VERY long ago. I love the last picture -- all blurry and out of sorts...kind of like were were after two full days of basketball.

Basketball Banquet

Henry had his banquet for basketball. It was for all the other teams that are from our club- including the girls. I am a little skeptical of how much pressure and intensity people put on kids sports nowadays, but I have to say I thought the banquet was cool. Each coach said something special about each kid, no MVP or awards were given out, and they had a speaker talk to the kids about work ethic and having fun. We feel VERY, VERY lucky that Henry had such a tremendous experience and such a wonderful coach. We are very proud of him. He worked hard, learned a ton, and is becoming a wonderful player who genuinely enjoys the sport.
